Project Status
| 01/11/03 | Since April 2003, THO-UK has arranged 10 medical professional to visit North-East of Sri Lanka. It is an ongoing project. Please contact us if you wish to offer your service. |
Medical and Health Experts Service Programme
Over the past six months had many Tamils medical professionals come a visit and even stay for up to a week to 6months serving the health needs of our community. This has been a greatly appreciated service by the expatriate Tamil community from all over the world.
The health services in the North and East are severely understaffed and under equipped and often there are no hospital buildings as such. To overcome the shortage in health professionals a generation of Medical Practitioners and Rural Health Practitioners are being trained to meet the needs of villages that are distant to hospitals or medical institutions. Also Laboratory, Public Health Inspectors and other paramedical practitioners are being trained.
To help us coordinate and make the stay of the expatriate volunteers we would welcome those who are making plans to inform us well in advance so we may plan your stay and make it worthwhile and enjoyable for your selves. We would appreciate you completing the following form with all details or email us.
